New construction wiring

Wiring for what's being built.

BW Electrical wires new houses and new commercial buildings — the service and panel, every circuit behind the walls, and the devices and fixtures that finish it. Working from your plans, on your build schedule.

The overview

Everything electrical, from empty framing to finished rooms

A new build is the one chance to get the electrical right without tearing anything apart. Every outlet, switch, light and appliance circuit is decided before the walls close.

The work runs in two stages, the way it does on any build. First the wiring goes in while the framing is open — the panel, the home runs, the boxes. Then, once the walls and ceilings are finished and the cabinets are set, the devices, fixtures and trims go on and the system gets brought up and checked.

What that means for you is that decisions get made early and on purpose, rather than discovered late.

Building a house

New homes

The residential side is the bulk of this work — houses being built for the people who will live in them.

Service, panel and circuits

The electrical service into the house, the panel it feeds, and the circuits that run out from it to every room and appliance.

Lighting planned in

Fixture placement and switching worked out while the ceilings are open — the same lighting design work we do on finished homes, just at the easiest possible moment.

Lighting installation & design

Devices and fixtures

Outlets, switches and fixtures set at finish, in the places you'll actually reach for them.

Generator systems

If backup power is part of the plan, a build is the cleanest time to put an emergency generator system in.

Fire alarm systems

Fire alarm system wiring handled as part of the build rather than added afterwards.

Commercial buildings

New commercial construction is wired too — same approach, same company, scoped from your plans.

Planning & coordination

Decisions are cheapest before the drywall

Almost everything that goes wrong electrically on a build is a decision that got made too late. A few worth settling early:

  • Where furniture and TVs are going, so outlets land somewhere useful
  • The kitchen layout — island, range, and what gets its own circuit
  • Lighting: how many, where, and controlled from which doorways
  • Anything that needs a dedicated circuit later, from a workshop to a charger
  • Whether backup power or a fire alarm system is part of the scope

Bring the plans and we'll work through it. The build schedule you're given is the one the electrical works around.

Bring what you have

Plans, a sketch, or just a description of what's going up and roughly when. That's enough to start a conversation about scope and price.

What to expect

How a build runs

Four stages, and a straight answer at each one. If something in the plan won't work the way it's drawn, you hear it early rather than late.

A look at the plans

Scope and price worked out against what's actually being built, and the schedule you're building to.

Wiring while it's open

Panel, home runs and boxes go in before the walls close, with placement settled first.

Finish work

Devices, fixtures and trims once the surfaces are done and the cabinets are set.

Brought up and checked

The system energized and gone over so you know what you've got before you move in.

FAQ

New construction questions

Do you wire commercial buildings as well as houses?

Yes. New construction wiring covers both — new houses and new commercial buildings. The residential side is the bulk of what we do, but a commercial build is well within what BW Electrical takes on. Describe the project when you call and you'll get a straight answer either way.

How early should an electrician get involved?

Earlier than most people expect. Once walls close up, choices get expensive — an outlet in the wrong place, no circuit where the range is going, lighting that has to be worked around instead of planned in. If plans exist, that's a good time to talk.

Can lighting design be part of the build?

Yes, and it's the right time for it. Lighting installation and design is one of our core services, so the layout can be worked out while the ceiling is still open rather than retrofitted afterwards.

Can a generator or a fire alarm system go in during the build?

Both are services we provide, and a build is the most straightforward point to put them in. Raise them while the job is being scoped so nothing has to be opened back up later.

What towns do you build in?

Plymouth, Middleborough, Falmouth, Wareham, Kingston, Taunton, Brockton, Milton, Quincy, Weston, Wellesley and Newton. If a project sits just outside that, it's still worth asking.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
